Performance
Abrasion Resistant Coating
An abrasion resistant coating protects surfaces from repeated contact, friction and scratching so that parts keep their function and appearance longer. Solechemical Inc. is developing abrasion resistance for industrial components, metal surfaces, consumer durables and flexible films, building on its high-hardness nano-ceramic coating technology. Performance for each application is confirmed with customers through sample evaluation and testing, and mobility applications such as automotive parts are in joint application development.

What it is
Abrasion resistance is the ability of a surface to keep its original condition through friction and repeated use. Solechemical designs its abrasion technology around dense, hard ceramic coating layers that raise surface hardness and protection.
Why it matters
Surfaces that hold up longer extend part replacement intervals, keep product appearance consistent and lighten maintenance. Abrasion resistance is also one of the most direct forms of sustainable design, because it extends product life.

FAQ
Is a clear abrasion resistant coating possible?
Several industrial nano-ceramic grades offer high transparency, so the substrate's original appearance stays visible while the surface is protected.
Can it be applied to flexible substrates such as film?
Our specialty coating portfolio includes a coating developed to form a flexible yet hard film on PI and CPI film surfaces, and we review each application with you.
Where can we find hardness values?
Hardness specifications are provided in product- and grade-specific technical data and test reports. Contact us for the current specification.
